Lightning, July 2013

Last night a thunderstorm passed. Because I woke up and probably wouldn’t fall asleep again with all that noise, I got my camera and started taking pictures. And I – finally – got a lightning shot. There is a lot of light pollution in my neighbourhood, so it is not easy to make decent shots at night, but the image above isn’t that bad.

The thunderstorm however was not comparable at all to the ‘prettiest’ one I have ever seen: some seven years ago I was driving from the airport of Orlando (Florida, US) to my hotel and in the distance there was a huge thunderstorm, with one flash after another across a very large part of the horizon. Unfortunately I didn’t have a camera with me at that time… Unfortunately because it was much more impressive than the thunderstorm last night…
