Venice is of course much more than carnival. Once upon a time it used to be the economic power in the world. Which shows in the beautiful palaces, cathedrals, churches. But these days are over and the buildings show the influence of the elements: the marble isn’t smooth anymore, all buildings around the canals show detoriation. Even the towers of some churches aren’t standing up straight anymore.
But it still is a beautiful city. A city to get lost in… It is a labyrinth of small and even smaller Streets and bridges over canals. But getting lost in a city is the best way to discover it, isn’t it?
