Dresden, December 2015

Last week, on our way to Prague, we stopped a few days in Dresden (Germany). It’s a beautiful city, but with a fraught history… At the end of WWII it was bombarded, in three successive waves, leaving almost nothing standing… In the DDR era, the Frauenkirche was left as a ruin, as a memory of that bombardement. Now most of the city has been rebuild. And at Christmas time, there were a lot of Christmas markets, a lot of lights and so on.

Oh yes, the ‘oriental’ building is probably not what you think it is… It used to be a sigaret factory… 🙂
