[See image gallery at www.thelightpoet.be] 2015 has come to an end. And for a number of reasons, it was a year that I will never forget… The year certainly brought a number of interesting photo moments, with some little diamants as a result.

For the photographers: all pictures were made with the Sony A7R. I have this camera now for two years and it is a wonderful tool. Certainly in combination with the DxO software, which gets the maximum out of the RAW files. My favorite lenses this year: the FE 24-70mm CZ (which isn’t quite as bad as some people on the internet claim), the CZ 135mm f1.8 (with adapter) and the Mitakon 50 mm f0.95.

Prague, December 2015

[See image gallery at www.thelightpoet.be] After a few days in Dresden, we drove to Prague, the real goal of our trip last week. Prague is a beautiful city… I had already been there a few times, for my partner it was her first visit. And it was a real discovery for her. An even for me, after so many times, it’s still marvelous. On condition that you look up… The decoration of the buildings is beautiful. But, since they embraced capitalism, the street level of many buildings has been ‘modernised’ (reed: turned into shop windows, which don’t always fit into the style of the rest of the building).

Dresden, December 2015

[See image gallery at www.thelightpoet.be] Last week, on our way to Prague, we stopped a few days in Dresden (Germany). It’s a beautiful city, but with a fraught history… At the end of WWII it was bombarded, in three successive waves, leaving almost nothing standing… In the DDR era, the Frauenkirche was left as a ruin, as a memory of that bombardement. Now most of the city has been rebuild. And at Christmas time, there were a lot of Christmas markets, a lot of lights and so on.

Oh yes, the ‘oriental’ building is probably not what you think it is… It used to be a sigaret factory…

Die Buchstaben, November 2015

[See image gallery at www.thelightpoet.be] It is a tribute to Gutenberg, the installation ‘Die Buchstaben’ from Anselm Kiefer. Sun flowers grow from the frame of an old printing press, the seeds transform into movable type (or something like that). It is part of a private collection, but for a short time it is exposed to the public in Antwerp, in a really beautiful building…

Alsace, November 2015

[See image gallery at www.thelightpoet.be] Last week we went a few days to the Alsace region in France. The fall colours were beautiful, both in the vineyards and in the forests. We also visited the museum of Hanzi, a famous painter who has a typical style, a style which you see everywhere in the Alsace region.

The man who carries the cross, October 2015

[See image gallery at www.thelightpoet.be] The cathedral of Antwerp has a new piece of art, the first in almost a century. It is a sculpture made by Jan Fabre and it is called ‘The man who carries the cross’. It is a beautiful and it really fits in the cathedral.

The official inauguration is in a few weeks (18/11/2015), so this is kind of a ‘sneak peak’…

Ostend, October 2015

[See image gallery at www.thelightpoet.be] Last WE we took the train to the sea, to Ostend (Belgium). The weather was really gray, which creates a certain atmosphere. And a walk along the beach in this kind of weather was really nice.

Also 50 copies were printed, for a select audience.

Middelheim, October 2015

[See image gallery at www.thelightpoet.be] I have been living in Antwerp (Belgium) for quite some time now, but the last time I visited the Middelheim Museum was when I was in school, in the early 1980’s. Something I’m not proud of…

The Middelheim Museum is a wonderful place. The collection of statues is impressive. And certainly now, when the leaves are chaning colors, it looks even more beautiful.
