The realm of the thousands islands, that’s how the region of Langendijk (Netherlands) was called. And there indeed used to be thousands of small islands (14000 of them!). Now many of them have disappeared, but there still is a patchwork of canals and islands. The islands were used for farming, now it’s for residential homes.
During our visit, we made a trip with a ‘whisper boat’, an original way to discover the region.
