Bunker Kossa, July 2011

The logic of the Cold War was rock solid: both camps were preparing for an atomic war, although both sides knew that it could never be won. Somewhere in the ‘Dübener Heide’ (near Leipzig) a secret bunker complex was constructed at the end of the 1970’s. It was meant to serve as a command centre in case the Third World War would start.

The bunker complex is a museum now. Next to three bunkers that are open to visit, you can also see a number of vehicles, brands that we have already long forgotten…
